Insulele Diomede, cunoscute și sub denumirea de Insulele Gvozdev din Rusia, constau din două insule stâncoase, cum sunt: ▪ insula Little Diomede din SUA sau, în limba maternă, Ignaluk și ▪ insula rusă Big Diomede, cunoscută și ca Imaqliq, Inaliq, Nunarbuk sau Insula Ratmanov. Insulele Diomede sunt situate în mijlocul strâmtorii Bering între continentul Alaska și Siberia, cu Marea Chukchi la nord și Marea Bering la sud. 9,3 km sud-est este Fairway Rock, care, în general, nu este considerat parte din Insulele Diomede. Insulele sunt uneori numite Tomorrow Island și Yesterday Isle, deoarece sunt separate de Linia Internațională de Date, astfel că Big Diomede este cu 23 de ore înainte de Little Diomede.
