Flysch este o secvență de roci sedimentare care este depozitată într-o facies marin adânc în bazinul de est al unui orogen în curs de dezvoltare. Flyschul este depus în mod obișnuit în timpul unei etape timpurii a orogenezei. Atunci când orogenul evoluează, bazinul de est se învecinează, iar molasa se depune pe partea de sus a flysch-ului. Acesta este, prin urmare, numit un sediment sin-orogen.
