Gonfalonul, gonfalonul sau "gonfanonul" este un tip de steag sau baner heraldic, deseori arătat, înghițit, sau cu mai multe fluxuri și suspendat dintr-o bară transversală într-o manieră identică cu vexillumul vechi roman. Acesta a fost inițial adoptat de comunele medievale italiene și, ulterior, de către ghișeele locale, corporațiile și districtele. Diferența dintre un gonfanon cu cozi lungi și un standard este că un gonfanon afișează dispozitivul pe zona fără coadă și standardul afișează insigne pe toată lungimea drapelului. Un gonfalon poate include o insignă sau o stemă sau un ornament de design fantezist. Astăzi, fiecare comună italiană are un gonfalon care își îmbrăca stema.
