Mișcarea "Nu știu nimic" a fost o mișcare politică americană care funcționa la nivel național la mijlocul anilor 1850. A promis să purifice politica americană prin limitarea sau încetarea influenței catolicilor irlandezi și a altor imigranți, reflectând astfel nativismul și sentimentul anti-catolic. A fost împuternicită de temerile populare că țara a fost copleșită de imigranți catolici germani și irlandezi, pe care ei i-au considerat ostili la valorile republicane și controlați de Papa din Roma. În principal activă între 1854 și 1856, sa străduit să contracareze imigrația și naturalizarea, dar sa confruntat cu puțin succes. Calitatea de membru era limitată la bărbații protestanți. Au existat câțiva lideri proeminenți, iar membrii în mare măsură de clasa mijlocie au fost fragmentați în ceea ce privește problema sclaviei.
