Viermii de viermi sunt viermi paraziți de nematode din ordinul Strongylida care infectează plămânii vertebratelor. Numele este folosit pentru o varietate de grupuri diferite de nematode, dintre care unele au și alte nume comune; ceea ce au în comun este că migrează la plămânii gazdă sau la căile respiratorii și provoacă bronșită sau pneumonie. Plămânul va afecta treptat căile respiratorii sau țesutul pulmonar prin inducerea unei reacții inflamatorii în interiorul țesutului. În cele din urmă, paraziții supraviețuiesc și se reproduc în țesuturile respiratorii. Categoria este deci mai descriptivă decât una taxonomică. Cele mai comune rinopiri aparțin uneia din cele două grupuri, superfamilia Trichostrongyloidea sau superfamilia Metastrongyloidea, dar nu toate speciile din aceste superfamilii sunt pulberi. Plămânii din superfamilia Trichostrongyloidea includ mai multe specii din genul Dictyocaulus care infectează animale copite, inclusiv cele mai comune specii domestice. Diferite specii se găsesc la bovine, cerbi, măgari și cai, ovine și caprine. Aceste animale au cicluri de viață directe.
