Adam Mickiewicz
Adam Bernard Mickiewicz ((ascultă), 24 decembrie 1798 - 26 noiembrie 1855) a fost poet, dramaturg, eseist, publicist, translator, profesor de literatură slavă și activist politic. Este considerat poet național în Polonia, Lituania și Belarus. O figură principală în romantismul polonez, el este considerat unul dintre "Trei barde" ("Trzej Wieszcze") din Polonia și este considerat cel mai mare poet al Poloniei. El este, de asemenea, considerat unul dintre cei mai mari poeți slavi și europeni și a fost numit "bard slav". Un dramaturg romantic principal, el a fost comparat în Polonia și Europa cu Byron și Goethe. El este cunoscut în special pentru drama poetică Dziady (Eva a preoților) și poemul epic național Pan Tadeusz. Celelalte sale lucrări influente includ Konrad Wallenrod și Grażyna.
