În teoria deciziei și în teoria sistemelor generale, o mentalitate este un set de ipoteze, metode sau notații deținute de unul sau mai multe persoane sau grupuri de oameni care este atât de stabilit încât creează un stimulent puternic în cadrul acestor persoane sau grupuri de a continua să adopte sau să accepte comportamente anterioare, alegeri sau instrumente. Acest fenomen este, uneori, descris ca inerție mentală, "gîndire de grup" sau o "paradigmă", adesea dificil de contracarat efectele sale asupra proceselor de analiză și de luare a deciziilor. You change your mind-set, and as long as you've got a good mind-set, you'll know everything is good.
I'm liberal on every social aspect, probably. More liberal than people would even believe. But there's still some of that Texas in me, as far as the gun debate. I wish there were no guns; I'm all for gun restrictions. But I'm also of the mind-set, if nothing changes, I'm getting a gun.
I've never really been aware of what is said about me, whether it's positive or negative. I ignore it. I've always had the mind-set: 'No one can challenge me better than myself.'
There has been a transition from a nuclear-annihilation scenario to an isolated-terrorist-nuclear-bomb scenario. But we're still locked into a mind-set that nuclear war would be so overwhelming that any kind of preparedness would be futile.
I don't ever want to lose that mind-set where you've got to be able to realize different ideas-slash-fantasies-slash-possibilities in your life.
