Un nabob este un termen anglo-indian pentru un slujitor al companiei din India de Est care a devenit bogat prin comerțul corupt și alte practici. Se referă, de asemenea, la un om bogat, care și-a făcut avere în Orient, mai ales în subcontinentul indian. Nabob înseamnă literalmente "guvernator adjunct" sau "vicereu" în guvernarea imperiului Mughal din India. Acest titlu a fost mai târziu adaptat de vasalii britanici din India, cum ar fi Bengal, Oudh și Arcot.
