Opsinele sunt un grup de receptori legați la membrană, legați la membrană, de 35-55 kDa, de receptori legați de membrana de proteină din familia proteinelor retinilidenice găsite în celule fotoreceptoare ale retinei. Cinci grupuri clasice de opsine sunt implicate în viziune, mediând transformarea unui foton de lumină într-un semnal electrochimic, primul pas în cascada transducției vizuale. Un alt opsin găsit în retina de mamifere, melanopsina, este implicat în ritmul circadian și reflexul pupilar, dar nu și în formarea imaginii.
