Otranto
Otranto este un oraș și comune în provincia Lecce, într-o regiune fertilă, renumită pentru rasele de cai. Acesta este situat pe coasta de est a peninsulei Salento. Strâmtoarea Otranto, spre care își dă numele, conectează Marea Adriatică cu Marea Ionică și separă Italia de Albania. Portul este mic și nu are prea mult comerț. Farul Faro della Palascìa, la aproximativ 5 kilometri sud-est de Otranto, marchează punctul cel mai estic al continentului italian. La aproximativ 50 de kilometri sud se află promontoriul din Santa Maria di Leuca, extremitatea sud-estică a Italiei, vechiul labirint Promontorium sau Sallentinum. Cartierul dintre acest promontoriu și Otranto este dens populat și foarte fertil.
