Pellagra este o boală cu deficit de vitamină cel mai frecvent cauzată de o lipsă cronică de niacină (vitamina B3 sau sinonim: vitamina PP (de la: Anti-Pellagra)) în dietă. Aceasta poate fi cauzată de scăderea aportului de niacină sau triptofan și, eventual, de aportul excesiv de leucină. De asemenea, poate rezulta din modificări ale metabolismului proteic în tulburări cum ar fi sindromul carcinoid. O deficiență a lizinei de aminoacizi poate duce și la o deficiență a niacinei.
