Pomerania
Pomerania este o regiune istorică pe malul sudic al Mării Baltice. Numele Pomerania provine de la mai multe slavici, ceea ce înseamnă Land at the Sea. Adjectivul pentru regiune este Pomeranian, locuitorii sunt numiți Pomeranians. Împărțită între Germania și Polonia, Pomerania se întinde aproximativ de la râul Recknitz, lângă Stralsund, în vest, prin delta râului Oder, lângă Szczecin, până la gura râului Vistula, lângă Gdańsk, în est. Cele mai mari insule din Pomerania sunt Rügen, Usedom / Uznam și Wolin. Pomerania aparține câmpiilor din Câmpia Europei de Nord. Cele mai mari orașe din Pomerania sunt Szczecin, Koszalin, Słupsk și Stargard Szczeciński din Polonia, și Stralsund și Greifswald din Germania. Gdańsk și Gdynia se află în Pomorie, și parte din Voievodatul Polonez Pomerania. În afara zonelor sale urbane, regiunea este caracterizată de terenuri agricole, dotate cu numeroase lacuri, păduri și orașe mici. Regiunea a fost puternic afectată de evenimentele din secolul XX, după schimbările de frontieră și populație de după primul și al doilea război mondial.
