Prima definiție a revizionismului în dicționar este o versiune moderată, nerevoluționară a marxismului dezvoltată în Germania în jurul anului 1900. O altă definiție a revizionismului este orice deviere periculoasă de la interpretarea adevărată a învățăturilor lui Marx.
