Senzaționalismul este un tip de prejudecată editorială în mass-media, în care evenimentele și subiectele din știri și piese sunt exagerate pentru a crește numerele de spectatori sau de cititori. [1] Senzaționalismul poate include raportarea despre chestiuni și evenimente în general nesemnificative care nu influențează în general societatea și prezentări părtinitoare ale subiectelor de interes general în mod trivial sau tabloid. [2] [3] Unele tactici includ, în mod deliberat, obtuze, [4] atrăgătoare la emoții, [5] controversate, omiterea intenționată a faptelor și a informațiilor, 6 fiind puternice și egoiste și acționând pentru a obține atenție.
