Maimuțele de păianjen din genul Ateles sunt maimuțe din Lumea Nouă din subfamilia Atelinae, familia Atelidae. Ca și alte ateline, ele se găsesc în pădurile tropicale din America Centrală și de Sud, de la sudul Mexicului până în Brazilia. Genul conține șapte specii, toate fiind amenințate; maimuță cu păianjen negru și păianjen maroniu sunt critic periclitate. Timpii disproporționat de lungi și cozile prehensile lungi fac din ei una dintre cele mai mari maimuțe din Lumea Nouă și dă naștere la numele lor comun.
