Un val pătrat este o formă de undă periodică non-sinusoidală, în care amplitudinea se alternează la o frecvență constantă între valori minime și maxime fixe, cu aceeași durată la minim și maxim. Trecerea de la minim la maxim este instantanee pentru un val pătrat ideal; acest lucru nu este realizabil în sistemele fizice. Valurile pătrunde sunt adesea întâlnite în electronică și prelucrarea semnalelor. Corespondentul său stochastic este o traiectorie în două state. Un val asemănător, dar nu neapărat simetric, cu durate arbitrare la minim și maxim, se numește undă dreptunghiulară.
