Uti possidetis
Uti possidetis este un principiu al dreptului internațional potrivit căruia teritoriul și alte proprietăți rămân cu posesorul său la sfârșitul conflictului, cu excepția cazului în care tratatul prevede altfel; dacă un astfel de tratat nu include condiții referitoare la deținerea proprietății și a teritoriului luat în timpul războiului, atunci prevalează principiul uti possidetis. La originea legii romane, expresia este derivată din expresia latină uti possidetis, ita possideatis, adică "puteți continua să posedați așa cum posedați". Acest principiu permite partidului beligerant să revendice teritoriul pe care la dobândit prin război.
