Educația cooperativă este o metodă structurată de combinare a educației bazate pe clasă cu experiența practică de lucru. O experiență de învățământ cooperativă, cunoscută în mod obișnuit ca un "co-op", oferă un credit academic pentru o experiență de muncă structurată. Educația cooperativă are o nouă importanță în sprijinirea tinerilor pentru a face tranziția între școală la locul de muncă, învățarea în slujbă și inițiativele de învățare experimentală. Educația cooperativă este, de asemenea, utilizarea metodelor de participare activă în care elevii învață cum să colaboreze pentru a rezolva problemele, în mod normal, aceasta se bazează pe principiile drepturilor copilului, egalității, echității și participării la luarea deciziilor.
