Astronomia cu raze X este o ramură observațională a astronomiei care se ocupă de studiul observării și detecției cu raze X din obiecte astronomice. Radiația X este absorbită de atmosfera Pământului, astfel încât instrumentele pentru a detecta razele X trebuie să fie luate la altitudine mare de baloane, sunete de rachete și sateliți. Astronomia cu raze X este știința spațială legată de un tip de telescop spațial care poate vedea mai departe decât telescoapele standard de absorbție a luminii, cum ar fi Observatoarele Mauna Kea, prin radiația cu raze X.
