Iugoslavia
Iugoslavia a fost o țară din Europa de Sud-Est în cea mai mare parte a secolului XX. A luat naștere după primul război mondial, în 1918, sub numele de Regatul sârbilor, croați și sloveni, prin fuziunea statului provizoriu al slovacilor, croaților și sârbilor cu fostul Regat independent al Serbiei și Regatul Muntenegrului. Casa regală sârbă a lui Karađorđević a devenit dinastia regală iugoslavă. Iugoslavia a obținut recunoașterea internațională la 13 iulie 1922 la Conferința ambasadorilor de la Paris. Țara a fost numită după popoarele slave din sud și a constituit prima lor uniune, după secole în care teritoriile fuseseră parte a Imperiului Otoman și a Austro-Ungariei. Renunțat Regatul Iugoslaviei, la 3 octombrie 1929, a fost invadat de puterile Axei la 6 aprilie 1941. În 1943, o democratică Federală Iugoslavia a fost proclamată de către rezistența partizană. În 1944, regele a recunoscut-o drept guvern legitim, dar în noiembrie 1945 monarhia a fost abolită. Iugoslavia a fost redenumită Republica Populară Federală Iugoslavia în 1946, când a fost înființat un guvern comunist. A achiziționat teritoriile din Istria, Rijeka și Zadar din Italia.
