Cuvântul ihram provine din cuvântul arab: أحرم يحرم إحراما ceea ce înseamnă că este ilegal. Atunci când cineva pornește takbiratul de ihram, atunci pare să fie dispus să interzică orice lucru care înainte de ihratul ihram este kosher. Exemple cum ar fi mâncarea. Mancarea este cosher și băutura este, de asemenea, kosher.
