Метод ложной позиции или метод регуляции фальси - это термин для методов решения проблем в арифметике, алгебре и исчислении. Проще говоря, эти методы начинаются с попытки оценить проблему с использованием тестовых значений для переменных, а затем соответствующим образом скорректировать значения. Можно выделить два основных типа метода ложной позиции, простое ложное положение и двойное ложное положение. Простая ложная позиция направлена на решение проблем, связанных с прямой пропорцией. Такие проблемы можно записать алгебраически в виде: определить х так, что если известны а и Ь. Двойная ложная позиция направлена на решение более сложных проблем, которые могут быть записаны алгебраически в форме: определить x так, что, если известно, что двойное ложное положение математически эквивалентно линейной интерполяции; для аффинной линейной функции она обеспечивает точное решение, тогда как для нелинейной функции f она дает приближение, которое может быть последовательно улучшено путем итерации.
