Kimyada, amfoterik bir tür bir asit veya bir baz gibi reaksiyona girebilecek bir molekül veya iyon. Sözcük, "her ikisi" anlamına gelen Yunanca "amphoteroi" kelimesinden türetilmiştir. Birçok metal amfoterik oksitler veya hidroksitler oluştururlar. Amfoterizm oksitin oksidasyon durumuna bağlıdır. Amfoterik türlerin bir türü, amfiprotik moleküllerdir, bu da bir protonu bağışlayabilir veya kabul edebilir.
