Bir cazibe sözcüğü, el yazısı veya basılı bir sayfanın dibinde yer alan, bir kitabın içindeki diğer sayfaların yanında bulunan bir kelimedir. Sözcük, bir sonraki sayfanın ilk kelimesini bekler. Bu cilt cüzdancısının veya yazıcının yaprakları doğru sırada tuttuğundan veya sayfaların doğru sırayla basında hazırlandığından emin olmasına yardım etmek içindir. Catchwords, bazı ortaçağ el yazmalarında görünür ve on beşinci yüzyılın sonlarında basılı kitaplarda tekrar görülür. Uygulama on altıncı yüzyılın ortalarında yaygınlaştı ve on sekizinci yüzyılın sonlarına doğru endüstriyel baskı tekniklerinin gelişine kadar hakimdi.
