Faroe Adaları
Faroe Adaları, Danimarka Krallığı'nın içinde, anakar İskoçya'nın yaklaşık 320 kilometre kuzey-kuzey-batısında, Norveç ve İzlanda arasında yaklaşık yarısı olan Norveç Denizi ve Kuzey Atlantik Okyanusu arasında yer alan bir adalar ve özerk bir ülkedir. Toplam alan yaklaşık 1.400 km2 olup 2010 nüfusu yaklaşık 50.000 kişidir. Faroe Adaları 1948'den beri Danimarka Bölgesi içinde kendi kendini yöneten bir ülke olmuştur. Yıllar geçtikçe, Faroe, çoğu yerli konunun kontrolünü ele geçirdi. Danimarka'nın sorumluluğunda kalan alanlarda askeri savunma, polis, adalet, para ve dışişleri bulunmaktadır. Faroe Adaları'nın ayrıca Danimarka delegasyonunun üyeleri olarak İskandinav Konseyinde temsilcileri var. Adalar, Norveç, daha sonra Kalmar Birliği ve ardından Danimarka-Norveç tarafından 1814 yılına kadar, Norveç İsveç ile birleşinceye kadar vergilendirildi. İskandinav, Napolyon Savaşları'nın Altıncı Koalisyonunu takiben siyasi kargaşa yaşıyordu. Kiel Antlaşması 1814'te Faroe, İzlanda ve Grönland üzerinde Danimarka kontrolü altına aldı. Danimarka ticaret tekeli 1856'da sona erdi.
