Konsantre ve oyun gibi canlı performanslarda sahne aydınlatma aleti olarak daha odaklanmış türler sıklıkla kullanılır. Pek çok profesyonel sporun en üst katmanlarında, stadyumların, projenin gün ışığı saatlerinin dışında yapılması planlanan projektörlere sahip olmaları şarttır. Gece veya gündüz maçları, gün içinde daha önce çalışmış veya başka bir taahhütte bulunan izleyicilere uyabilir. Bunun ana sebebi televizyon pazarlaması, özellikle sporu finanse etmek için TV haklarına güvenen Gridiron gibi sporlarda. Sürekli projektörler takılı olmayan bazı spor alanları, yerine taşınabilir geçici ışıklandırmalar kullanabilir. Birçok büyük projektörlerde ampul değişimi ve bakımı için gantries bulunur. Bunlar genellikle bir ya da iki mühendis içerebilir.
