Coğrafi Kodlama
Coğrafi kodlama, cadde adresleri veya posta kodları gibi diğer coğrafik verilerden ilişkili coğrafi koordinatları bulma işlemidir. Coğrafi koordinatlar ile bu özellikler eşlemlenebilir ve Coğrafi Bilgi Sistemlerine girilebilir veya koordinatlar, coğrafi etiketleme yoluyla dijital fotoğraf gibi ortamlara gömülebilir. Tersine coğrafi kodlama bunun tam tersidir: coğrafi koordinatlardan sokak adresi gibi bir metinsel yer bulmak. Coğrafi kodlayıcı, bu işlemde yardımcı olan bir yazılım veya hizmet parçasıdır.

Sözlükte coğrafi kodun tanımı, coğrafi koordinatları bir konumun adıyla eşleştiren dijital bir koddur. Coğrafi kodun diğer tanımı, dijital bir kod kullanarak coğrafi koordinatları fiziksel bir konuma atamaktır.
