Hermetisizm
Hermetizm olarak da adlandırılan Hermetikizm, öncelikle Hermes Trismegistus'a atfedilen pseudekigrafik yazılara dayanan dini ve felsefi bir gelenektir. Bu yazılar Batı ezoterik geleneğini büyük ölçüde etkilemiş ve hem Rönesans hem de Reformasyon sırasında büyük önem taşımaktadır. Gelenek, prizca teologundan inandıklarını iddia eder; bu doktrin, tüm dinlerde var olan ve antik dönemde Tanrı tarafından insana verilen tek, gerçek bir teolojinin var olduğunu onaylar. Emerson, Lactantius, Aquinas Thomas, Augustine, Giordano Bruno, Marsilio Ficino, Campanella ve Giovanni Pico della Mirandola da dahil olmak üzere bir çok Hıristiyan yazar Hermes Trismegistus'u Hıristiyanlığın gelişini öngören bilge bir pagan peygamberi olarak görüyorlardı. Hermes Trismegistus'un "Büyük Thrice" ismini nasıl aldığına dair bir açıklama, Hermes Trismegistus'un Zümrüt Tabletinden türetilmiştir; burada tüm evrenin bilgeliğinin üç bölümünü bildiği belirtilmiştir. Bilgenin üç kısmı simya, astroloji ve teorisyondur.
