Heterokont
Heterokonts veya stramenopiller, şu anda 100.000'den fazla bilinen tür içeren büyük bir ökaryot dizisidir. Çoğu, yosun olup, dev çok hücreli yosun, planktonun birincil bileşeni olan tek hücreli diyatomlara kadar değişir. Stramenopila'nın diğer önemli üyeleri arasında İrlandalı patates kıtlığının fitnesi olan Phytophthora ve tohumun çürümesine ve sönümlenmesine neden olan Pythium'un bulunduğu oomycetes yer alır. Heterokontlar adı, fıtık hücrelerinin iki farklı şekilde şekillendirilmiş flajeline sahip olduğu hareketli yaşam döngüsü aşamasını belirtir.
