Hypergamy
Hipergüz, kendinden daha yüksek kast veya statüye sahip birisiyle evlenmenin eylemidir. Bu terim cinsiyete bağlı olmasa da, yüksek statüdeki kadınlarla evlenen erkekler yerine, sosyal bilimciler tarafından genelde yüksek statülü erkekleri evlendiren kadınlara atıfta bulunur. "Hipogamya" kelimesi, genellikle, tersinin gerçekleştiği olaylara atıfta bulunur: daha düşük bir sosyal sınıf veya statüye sahip bir kişiyle evlenmek.
