Pidgin
Bir pidgin / pɪdʒцn / veya pidgin dili, ortak bir dile sahip olmayan iki veya daha fazla grup arasında iletişim aracı olarak geliştirilen basitleştirilmiş bir dil sürümüdür. Ticaret gibi durumlarda ya da her iki grubun ikamet ettikleri ülkenin dilinden farklı diller konuştuğu durumlarda en sık kullanılanıdır. Temel olarak, bir dilim, bireyler ya da insanlar grubu arasında doğaçtan yapılmış ya da sözleşmeyle oluşturulduğu için dilsel iletişimin basitleştirilmiş bir aracıdır. Bir sesli harf, herhangi bir konuşma camiasının ana dili değil, bunun yerine ikinci bir dil olarak öğrenilir. Kelimelerin, seslerin veya vücut dilinin birden fazla başka dilden ve kültürden alınabileceği bir pidgin olabilir. Pidginler insanlara veya bir grup insanın dil ile herhangi bir benzerliği olmadan birbirleriyle iletişim kurmalarına izin verir. Pidginlerin diğer dillere göre prestijleri genellikle düşüktür. Bir dildeki basitleştirilmiş veya "kırık" biçimlerin tamamı pidgin değildir. Her pidginin, pidginin yeterliliği için öğrenilmesi gereken kendi kullanım normları vardır.
