Posta kodu
Posta kodu, postaları sıralamak amacıyla bir posta adresine eklenen bir dizi harf ve / veya basamaktan oluşur. Posta kodları girildikten sonra, diğer uygulamalar mümkün hale geldi. Şubat 2005'te Evrensel Posta Birliğinin 190 üyesi ülkesinin 117'sinde posta kodu sistemi vardı. Ulusal sisteme sahip olmayan ülkeler İrlanda ve Gana'yı içerir. Posta kodları genellikle coğrafi alanlara ayrılmış olmasına rağmen, bazen özel kodlar bireysel adreslere veya devlet kurumları ve büyük ticaret şirketleri gibi büyük miktarda postalar alan kurumlara atanır. Buna bir örnek Fransız CEDEX sistemidir.
