Saluki, Arapça: سلوقی / ALA-LC: saluqī / Farsça: سلوکی, سگ تازی Mısır Kraliyet Köpeği veya İran Greyhound olarak da bilinir evcil köpeklerin en eski bilinen ırklarından biridir. Orta İran'da Golpaygan ve Hummin'de saluki benzeri köpekbalıkları ve avcılara eşlik eden falcons'u gösteren petroglyphler ve taş sanatları var. Susa'da bulunan çanak çömleklerde İran, salya benzeri maymunları takip eden veya havuzların yanında yatan görüntülerdir. Orta Krallık devrinden itibaren, MÖ 2134 tarihindeki eski Mısır mezarlarında Saluki benzeri hayvanlar ortaya çıkar. Avesta, İncil, Kur'an ve İmparatorluk Çinine bağlantıları var. Batıdaki modern ıslah 1895'de Floransa Amherst'in Aşağı Mısır'dan bir Salukis çiftini ithal edip cinsi popülerleştirmeye başlamasına başladı. Batılı kitapta ilk kayıtlı Salukis, İran'dan ithal edilen ve DWZRV'ye kayıtlı Cyrus ve Slongha Peri'dir. DWZRV 1922'de ilk çöpleri de kaydetmiştir. Salukis, 1923'te The Kennel Club ve 1929'da American Kennel Club tarafından tanınmıştır. Cins ayrıca Southern Illinois Üniversitesi Carbondale'nin maskotudur.
