Bir tophus, kandaki ürik asit seviyesinin uzun sürdüğü insanlarda monosodyum ürat kristalleri deposudur. Tophi hastalık gut için patognomoniktir. Tofi'li insanların birçoğunda, daha önce atfinin oluşumuna yol açan akut artrit saldırıları olmuştu. Eklemlerde topi form, kıkırdak, kemik ve vücudun diğer yerlerinde. Bazen, tophi deriyi kırar ve beyaz veya sarımsı-beyaz, tebeşir nodülleri olarak görünür. Tedavi edilmediğinde tophi, gut ortaya çıktıktan yaklaşık on yıl sonra ortaya çıkabilir, ancak ilk görünüşleri üç ila kırk iki yıl arasında değişebilir. Gutto tofi'nin gelişimi aynı zamanda eklem işlevini de sınırlayabilir ve özellikle gut başarıyla tedavi edilemediğinde dikkat çekici özürlülüklere neden olan kemik yıkımına neden olabilir.
