Turkuaz, CuAl648 · 4H2O kimyasal formülü ile bakır ve alüminyumdan sulu bir fosfat olan, opak, mavi-yeşil bir mineraldir. İnce derecelerde nadir ve değerlidir ve benzersiz tonuyla binlerce yıldır mücevher ve süs taşı olarak ödüle layık görülür. Son zamanlarda, turkuaz, diğer opak taşların çoğunda olduğu gibi, tedavilere, taklitlerin ve sentetikler piyasaya sürülmesiyle devalüe edilmiştir.
