Асертеріальне твердження в арістотелівській логіці просто стверджує, що це щось таке, на відміну від проблемних положень, які стверджують можливість того, щось є справжньою, або аподеїчні пропозиції, які стверджують речі, які обов'язково або само собою зрозуміле істинними чи хибними. Наприклад, "Чикаго більше, ніж Омаха" є атерористичною. "Корпорація може бути багатшим, ніж країна" є проблематичною. "Два плюс два дорівнює чотирьом" - аподеїчний.
