Диматург або драматург є професійним становищем в театрі чи оперній компанії, яка займається в основному дослідженнями та розробками п'єс чи опер. Його сучасна функція була заснована інноваціями Готхольда Ефраїма Лессінга, німецького драматурга 18-го століття, філософа та теоретика про театр. Одним із завдань драмтаґура є класифікація та обговорення різноманітних типів п'єс та опер, їх взаємозв'язок та їх стилі. Обов'язки драматургу різні в різних театральних та оперних компаніях.
