Функтор
У математиці функтор є типом відображення між категоріями, який застосовується в теорії категорій. Функтори можна розглядати як гомоморфізми між категоріями. У категорії малих категорій функтори можуть розглядатися більш загальним чином як морфізми. Функтори вперше були розглянуті в алгебраїчній топології, де алгебраїчні об'єкти пов'язані з топологічними просторами, а алгебраїчні гомоморфізми пов'язані з безперервними картинами. В даний час функтори використовуються в сучасній математиці для співставлення різних категорій. Таким чином, функтори, як правило, застосовуються в областях, в межах математики, теорія категорій може зробити абстракцію. Слово "Функтор" було запозичено математиками від філософа Рудольфа Карнапа, який використовував термін у лінгвістичному контексті: див. Функціональне слово.
