У ботаніці гаусториум є придатком або частиною паразитарного гриба або корінь паразитарної рослини, яка проникає в тканину господаря та виділяє з неї поживні речовини. Хаусторія не проникає в клітинні мембрани хазяїна. Гриби у всіх основних відділах утворюють гаустория. Хаусторія приймають кілька форм. Як правило, при проникненні гриб збільшує площа поверхні в контакті з ферментами, що вивільняють плазматичні мембрани хазяїна, що розщеплюють клітинну стінку, що дозволяє збільшити потенційний переміщення органічного вуглецю від господаря до грибка. Таким чином, комаха, що містить паразитарний грибок, такий як кордицепс, може виглядати так, як воно "з'їдається ззовні", як гаустория розширюється всередині нього. Функціональний обмін відбувається в гаустерському комплексі. Господар поставляє органічний вуглець у грибок, а метаболічна активність усередині комплексу значно більша, ніж назовні.
