Argumentation wird im Gesetz verwendet, zum Beispiel in Versuchen, bei der Vorbereitung eines Arguments, das einem Gericht vorgelegt werden soll, und bei der Prüfung der Gültigkeit bestimmter Beweismittel. Auch die Argumentationswissenschaftler studieren die Post-hoc-Rationalisierungen, durch die organisatorische Akteure versuchen, Entscheidungen zu rechtfertigen, die sie irrational gemacht haben.
