Barouche
Eine Barouche war eine Art Pferdekutsche, die im 19. Jahrhundert modisch war. Entwickelt aus dem Kalor des 18. Jahrhunderts, war es ein vierrädriges, flaches Fahrzeug mit zwei Doppelsitzen innen, angeordnet gegenüber, so dass die Sitter auf dem Vordersitz denjenigen auf dem Rücksitz gegenüberstanden. Es hatte eine weiche, zusammenklappbare Halbhaube, die wie ein Faltenbalg über den Rücksitz faltete und eine hohe Außenseite für den Fahrer vorne hatte. Der ganze Wagen wurde auf C-Federn aufgehängt. Es wurde von einem Paar von hochwertigen Pferden gezeichnet und wurde hauptsächlich für die Freizeit fahren im Sommer verwendet. Eine leichte Barouche war ein Barouchet oder Barouchette. Ein Barouche-gesellig wurde als Kreuz zwischen einer Barouche und einem victoria beschrieben. Das Wort barouche ist eine Anglisierung des deutschen Wortes barutsche, über das italienische Baroccio oder Biroccio und letztlich aus dem lateinischen Birotus, "Zweirad". Der Name wurde so falsch, wie die spätere Form des Wagens vier Räder hatte.
