Chetniks oder die Chetnik-Bewegung waren serbische nationalistische und monarchistische paramilitärische Organisationen aus der ersten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts, die als Widerstand gegen das Osmanische Reich im Jahre 1904 gebildet wurden und an den beiden Balkankriegen teilnahmen, [1] Weltkrieg und Welt Krieg II. Zwischen den Kriegen, im Königreich Jugoslawien, arbeiteten sie in Form von zwei zivilen Organisationen. Der Name ist heute am engsten mit den Chetnik-Abteilungen der jugoslawischen Armee, der Zweiten Weltkrieg-Bewegung von Draža Mihailović, die später in die jugoslawische Armee in der Heimat umbenannt wurde, verbunden, obwohl der ursprüngliche Name immer häufiger blieb. Die Mihailović Chetniks waren keine homogene Bewegung. [3] Während des Zweiten Weltkriegs waren die Chetniks eine Anti-Axis-Bewegung in ihren weitreichenden Zielen und engagierten sich in begrenzten Perioden in marginalen Widerstandstätigkeiten. [4] Sie haben sich auch in taktischer oder selektiver Zusammenarbeit mit den Besatzungsmächten für fast den ganzen Krieg engagiert.
