Colombardieren
Colombard ist eine weiße französische Weinrebsorte, die die Nachkommen von Gouais blanc und Chenin blanc ist. Das macht die Traube zum Geschwister des Armagnac Meslier-Saint-François und der fast ausgestorbenen Cognac-Traube Balzac blanc. In Frankreich wurde es traditionell in den Charentes und Gascogne für die Destillation in Cognac und Armagnac angebaut. Heute ist es immer noch unter den zulässigen weißen Rebsorten in Bordeaux Wein, und in Gascogne für Vins de Pays Côtes de Gascogne und die weiße Floc de Gascogne. Alte Rebstöcke werden von einigen nordkalifornischen Produzenten zermalmt und zu einem fruchtigen Weißwein von interessantem Charakter in trockenen und süßen Versionen gemacht. Diese Traube wird hauptsächlich in Kalifornien angebaut, um Rückgrat, wegen seiner natürlichen sauren Charakter, für weiße "Krug Wein" Mischungen zur Verfügung zu stellen. Es ist auch weit verbreitet in Südafrika, wo es als Columbar bekannt ist, und in geringerem Maße in Australien.
