In der Informatik und Computer-Programmierung ist eine Fortsetzung eine abstrakte Darstellung des Kontrollzustandes eines Computerprogramms. Die "aktuelle Fortsetzung" oder "Fortsetzung des Berechnungsschrittes" ist die Fortsetzung, die aus der Perspektive des laufenden Codes aus dem aktuellen Punkt in der Ausführung eines Programms abgeleitet werden würde. Der Begriff Fortsetzungen kann auch verwendet werden, um auf erstklassige Fortsetzungen zu verweisen, die Konstrukte sind, die einer Programmiersprache die Möglichkeit geben, den Ausführungszustand an jedem beliebigen Punkt zu speichern und zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt im Programm zurückzukehren.
