Croup ist ein Atemzustand, der in der Regel durch eine akute Virusinfektion der oberen Atemwege ausgelöst wird. Die Infektion führt zu Schwellungen im Hals, die mit normaler Atmung interferiert und die klassischen Symptome eines "bellenden" Hustens, Stridors und Heiserkeit hervorbringt.
