Digitalis
Digitalis / ˌdɪdʒɨteɪlɨs / or / ˌdɪdʒɨtælɨs / ist eine Gattung von etwa 20 Arten von krautigen Stauden, Sträuchern und Biennalen, die gemeinhin als Fingerhut bezeichnet werden. Diese Gattung wurde traditionell in der Feigenfamilie Scrophulariaceae platziert, aber die jüngste phylogenetische Forschung hat sie in die viel vergrößerte Familie Plantaginaceae gelegt. Diese Gattung stammt aus West- und Südwesteuropa, West- und Zentralasien, Australasien und Nordwestafrika. Der wissenschaftliche Name bedeutet "fingerartig" und bezieht sich auf die Leichtigkeit, mit der eine Blume von Digitalis purpurea über eine menschliche Fingerspitze angebracht werden kann. Die Blüten werden auf einer hohen Spitze hergestellt, sind röhrenförmig und variieren in der Farbe mit Arten, von lila bis rosa, weiß und gelb. Die bekannteste Art ist die gemeinsame Fingerhut, Digitalis purpurea. Diese biennale Pflanze wird oft als Zierpflanze angebaut, die durch ihre lebendigen Blüten, die in der Farbe von verschiedenen lila Tönungen durch verschiedene Schattierungen von hellgrau und rein weiß sind. Die Blumen können auch verschiedene Marken und Spottings besitzen. Das erste Jahr des Wachstums des gemeinen Fingerhutes produziert nur den Stamm mit seinen langen, basalen Blättern.
