Fliege
Wahre Fliegen sind Insekten der Ordnung Diptera. Ihre offensichtlichste Unterscheidung von anderen Ordnungen von Insekten ist, dass eine typische Fliege ein Paar Flugflügel auf dem Mesothorax und ein Paar Halfter, die von den Hinterflügeln abgeleitet sind, auf dem Metathorax besitzt. Die einzige andere Ordnung von Insekten, die zwei wahren, Funktionale Flügel und jede Form von Haltern sind die Strepsiptera, und im Gegensatz zu den Fliegen, die Strepsiptera tragen ihre Halfter auf dem Mesothorax und ihre Flügel auf dem Metathorax.
