Ein Bild ist eine Darstellung einer bestimmten Person in Form von Skulptur oder einem anderen dreidimensionalen Medium. Figuren, oft Karikatur im Stil, die beschädigt, zerstört oder paradiert sind, um die durch magische Mittel repräsentierte Person zu schädigen oder sie nur zu verspotten oder sie zu beleidigen, werden auch als Bildnisse bezeichnet. Es ist üblich, ein Bildnis einer Person als Protestakt zu verbrennen. Das Wort kommt, vielleicht über Französisch, aus dem Lateinischen, was bedeutet "Repräsentation", und ursprünglich wurde in Englisch nur im Plural verwendet - auch ein einziges Bild war "die Bildnisse von ..." Das Wort tritt in Shakespeares wie du es magst Von 1600, obwohl es zuerst erschien im Jahre 1539.
