Eigenfunktion
In der Mathematik ist eine Eigenfunktion eines linearen Operators A, der auf einem Funktionsraum definiert ist, eine beliebige Funktion ohne Null, die in dem von dem Operator genau so zurückkehrenden Raum existiert, mit Ausnahme eines multiplikativen Skalierungsfaktors. Genauer gesagt hat man für einige skalare, λ den entsprechenden Eigenwert. Die Lösung des differentiellen Eigenwertproblems hängt auch von den von f. In jedem Fall gibt es nur bestimmte Eigenwerte λ = λn, die eine entsprechende Lösung für f = fn zulassen, wenn sie mit den Randbedingungen kombiniert werden. Eigenfunktionen werden verwendet, um A zu analysieren. Beispielsweise ist fk = ekx eine Eigenfunktion für den Differentialoperator für jeden Wert von k mit dem entsprechenden Eigenwert λ = k2 - k. Wenn auf dieses System Randbedingungen angewendet werden, dann erfüllen nur bestimmte Werte von k = kn die Randbedingungen, wodurch entsprechende diskrete Eigenwerte erzeugt werden.
