Hamitic
Hamitic ist ein historischer Begriff für die Völker, die angeblich von Noahs Sohn Ham stammen, der dem Semitischen und Japhetischen Parallelen entspricht. Es wurde verwendet, um nicht-semitische Sprachen in der afroasiatische Sprachfamilie zu etikettieren, die so früher als "Hamito-Semitic" bezeichnet wurde. Die Hamitischen Sprachen sollen die Berber-, kuschitischen und ägyptischen Zweige umfassen. Da sich aber im Gegensatz zum Semitischen nicht gezeigt haben, dass sie eine exklusive phylogenetische Einheit bilden, die sich von anderen afroasiatischen Sprachen getrennt unterscheidet, ist der Begriff in diesem Sinne veraltet. Jeder dieser Zweige gilt heute als eine unabhängige Untergruppe der größeren afroasiatischen Familie. Im 19. Jahrhundert als pseudowissenschaftliche Anwendung des "wissenschaftlichen Rassismus" klassifizierten die europäischen Autoren die "Hamitische Rasse" als Untergruppe der kaukasischen Rasse, zusammen mit der semitischen Rasse - und gruppierten so die nicht-semitischen Populationen nach Nordafrika, Das Horn von Afrika und Südarabien, einschließlich der alten Ägypter.
